Pancreatic Cancer Research - Ryan M. Thomas, M.D. - University of Florida
The Tee Up for Life Committee has chosen to fund a pancreatic cancer research grant at the University of Florida, being conducted by Dr. Ryan M. Thomas. This project has the future potential of identifying high-risk microbiome signatures that may allow for the identification and alteration of patient-specific risk factors. In short, this project could enable earlier detection, treatment, and thus, better survival.
The American Cancer Society Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge - Gainesville, FL
Tee Up for Life continues to fund the Gainesville Hope Lodge. Getting the right cancer care sometimes means traveling away from home, often to a cancer treatment facility in another city. The Hope Lodge provides temporary residence, free of charge, for patients who travel to Gainesville-area cancer treatment centers for daily outpatient treatment. Funds donated to the Hope Lodge may be used for operational costs and/or urgent upgrades and maintenance.
